Android notifications on your Mac, with replies

Macophone puts your Android phone's notifications on your Mac, as Mac banners and in the menu bar. Reply to a message, tap a notification's buttons, or dismiss it on the Mac and it clears on the phone too. Everything goes straight from your phone to your Mac over your own Wi-Fi, with no account and no cloud of ours.

What you can do from your Mac

Messages on your Mac

Texts and chats reach your Mac as notifications from the app that received them, and you can reply from there. Macophone works with the notifications your phone shows, so it does not copy your message history to the Mac.

You choose what reaches the Mac

There is a switch for every kind of data and every app, and a live preview of exactly what your Mac will see. To stop everything for a while, turn on Incognito from the phone or the Mac for 15 minutes, an hour, until 8:00 or until you turn it off. Nothing made or received during the pause crosses on its own, not even after it ends.

One-time codes stay on the phone

Sign-in codes are masked in mirrored notifications, so your Mac shows the alert without the code. The clipboard refuses to send a code, and folder sync holds back screenshots that may show one.

How to set it up

  1. Install the Macophone menu bar app on your Mac. It needs macOS 15 or later on Apple silicon.
  2. Install the app on your phone. It needs Android 14 or later.
  3. Scan the code your Mac shows, check that the code matches on both screens and click Pair on the Mac. From then on they find each other on your Wi-Fi by themselves.
  4. Allow notification access when the phone app asks. If the switch is greyed out, Android wants you to allow restricted settings for the app first; the install guide we send with the beta shows how.

Where your notifications go

Straight from your phone to your Mac: on your Wi-Fi at home, or away from home over a private network you already run, such as Tailscale or ZeroTier, if you turn on Away access. They never pass through a Macophone server. Everything is encrypted with TLS 1.3, and each device only trusts the other's key from the moment you pair.
