Or make something happen:

Tap the phone or the Mac. Both work, in both directions.

See it work

Under a minute, both ways.

A photo to the Mac, a synced folder, a note to the phone, a code that stays home and a pause on both.

Animated demo of the apps. Names and messages are made up.

Where Macophone goes further

Pause it. Sync it. Keep your codes.

Three things you will not want to give up once you have them.

Not in the apps we compared

Incognito, both ways

A pause button for everything

From the phone or the Mac, for 15 minutes, an hour, until 8:00 or until you turn it off. Nothing from the pause ever crosses, even after it ends.

Not in the apps we compared

Folder Sync, both ways

One folder, the same on both

Choose your camera folder and every new photo lands on your Mac by itself, no uploading. It works both ways, with conflict handling and a trash.

Codes stay on your phone

Sign-in codes never leave

Masked before a notification leaves the phone, refused by the clipboard, and kept out of folder sync.

Both ways

Everything else you would expect.

What iPhone owners get on a Mac, for your Android phone, and back the other way.

Privacy

Private by design, not by a setting.

Most phone-to-computer apps send your messages through their own servers. Macophone has no servers to send them to. What happens between your phone and your Mac stays between your phone and your Mac.

  • Nothing goes through usNo cloud, no account, no sign-in. Your phone and Mac connect directly on your Wi-Fi, encrypted with TLS 1.3, and each one only trusts the other's key from the moment you pair.
  • You choose what your Mac getsA switch for every kind of data, blocks for any app, and a live preview of exactly what your Mac will see.
  • Nothing leaves on its ownPhotos, files and your clipboard only cross when you tap. Only notifications, calls, music and battery flow by themselves, each with its own switch, plus the one folder you choose to sync.
  • Unpair means unpairUnpair on either device and the other is told the next time they can reach each other, even if it was asleep. Keys live in the Android Keystore and the macOS Keychain, and logs never hold your content.

Compare

How Macophone compares with the apps you may know.

Good apps already link Android phones to computers. Here is where Macophone is different, checked against each product's own site, help pages or app store listing.

  • No developer settingsSome Mac tools connect through Android's USB debugging, which you have to turn on in developer options. Macophone pairs by scanning a code, like any other app.
  • No cloud, not even an optional oneNo relay, no account, no sign-in to turn on later. The phone and the Mac only ever talk to each other.
  • Pause and folder syncWe found neither a timed pause of all sharing nor two-way folder sync with a Mac in the apps below.

Checked on 18 October 2026 against each maker's website, help pages and app store listings. "Not stated" means we found no mention, not that the feature is missing. Products change, so check the ones you use. Microsoft Phone Link and Samsung Flow work with Windows PCs only, and Intel Unison was discontinued in June 2025.

Set up once

Three steps, then it just works.

  1. 1

    Install on your Mac

A small menu bar app. macOS 15 or later.

  2. 2

    Install on your phone

    Android 14 or later.

  3. 3

    Scan the code

Pair once. From then on they find each other on your Wi-Fi by themselves.

Questions

Good to know.

Is Macophone like AirDrop for Android?

For your Android phone and your Mac, yes. Send photos and files either way over your own Wi-Fi, with progress, time left and cancel. It also brings what iPhone owners get from Apple's Continuity features: notifications with replies, calls, a shared clipboard and Now Playing.

Can I see Android notifications and answer calls on my Mac?

Yes. Notifications show in your Mac's menu bar and as Mac banners, and you can reply or tap their action buttons. When someone calls, the Mac shows who it is so you can decline or silence it, and you can place calls from the Mac through your phone. The call itself is answered on the phone.

How do I send files from Android to a Mac without a cable?

Tap Send files in the phone app and pick what to send. It goes straight to your Mac over your Wi-Fi and lands on the Desktop. From the Mac, send files back the same way. There is no upload to a cloud and no file size limit from a server.

Can I sync a folder between my Android phone and my Mac?

Yes. Pick one folder on your phone and one on your Mac, and Macophone keeps them in step in both directions over your Wi-Fi. Choose your camera folder and new photos show up on your Mac by themselves, with no cable or uploading; files you drop in the Mac folder show up on the phone. Conflicts are handled and deleted files go to a trash first. Screenshots that may show a one-time code never sync.

Can I pause sharing for a while?

Yes. Turn on Incognito from the phone or the Mac for 15 minutes, an hour, until 8:00 or until you turn it off. Nothing made or received during the pause ever crosses, not even after it ends.

Is there a shared clipboard between Android and Mac?

Yes. Send your phone's clipboard to the Mac with one tap, and let the Mac send its clipboard to the phone automatically if you turn that on. One-time codes are refused, so they never land on your Mac by accident.

Is it an alternative to Phone Link for the Mac?

It does the same kind of everyday job that Phone Link does on Windows PCs, built only for an Android phone and a Mac. It has no account and no cloud: your phone and your Mac talk to each other directly.

Does it need the internet?

No. Your phone and Mac only need to be on the same Wi-Fi network. Nothing is sent over the internet, and when you leave home they simply wait until you are back.

Does 3AM Labs see my messages, calls or files?

No. There is no Macophone server, so nothing passes through us. The only data we hold is your waitlist sign-up, as described in the privacy notice.

What happens to one-time codes?

They never reach your Mac. Codes are masked in mirrored notifications, the clipboard refuses to send them, and folder sync holds back screenshots that may show one.

Which phones and Macs does it work with?

Phones with Android 14 or later and Macs with macOS 15 or later. It is built and tested on a Samsung Galaxy phone with Android 16 and an Apple silicon Mac.

Is Macophone made by Google or Apple?

No. Macophone is an independent product by 3AM Labs, built on public Android and macOS features.
